Understanding the concepts of spirituality and magick

Spirituality is not limited to any specific religion or belief system. It is a practise that can be adapted and personalised to suit individual needs and beliefs. Whether you follow a specific spiritual path or consider yourself more of a free spirit, wanting to cultivate a deeper spiritual connection can be a powerful beginning for personal growth and self-discovery.

Magick as a concept is often misunderstood and misrepresented in popular culture. It is not about an instant shortcut to all life’s problems, but rather a practise rooted in ancient wisdom. For us, magick is the philosophy and art of affecting intended change through an unseen cause.  For most magickal practitioners, it is a deeply spiritual practise that requires intention, focus, and belief.

At its core, becoming a spiritual person and embracing magick is about tapping into some personal truths, even potentially some “divine spark,” that connects us to the larger cosmic web. By finding something that speaks to us within this framework, we can tap into our own sense of spirituality and transform our lives.

Exploring the connection between spirituality, magick and personal growth

For us, spirituality and personal growth go hand in hand. This is what gave rise to our humanistic magick approach. When we engage in magickal practices, we are actively working to align ourselves with our deepest desires and highest potential. For us, magick provides a framework for self-reflection, introspection, and personal transformation.

It involves acknowledging and embracing one’s strengths and weaknesses and working to improve oneself continually. One of the key aspects of humanistic magick is embracing the connection between spirituality and personal growth. By becoming a more spiritual person, this can help you to unlock your full potential by providing you with a roadmap for personal development. Once you have this, setting your intentions to improve and change becomes much easier.

Magickal practise is what makes delivering on our intentions much more creative and fun, whilst keeping a connection to the spiritual. Otherwise we could just write a “to do” list and check things off as we work through it. By harnessing the power of magick, we can create positive change in our lives and work towards our goals in a way that is in alignment with our spirituality.

The power of setting intentions for spiritual growth

In magick, when we set clear and focused intentions we are able to align our energy and direct it towards our desired outcomes. This includes spiritual growth. We have posted previously about how to set intentions and we know that to harness the power of intention, it is important to be clear and specific about what we want to achieve.

For example, one intention could be to live in alignment with your true purpose, this is a powerful intention for spiritual growth as it provides you with an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of yourself and your place in the universe.

Magick can be a mechanism to focus your intention, as it can be a spell cast in and of itself. A deeper exploration, and where humanistic magick comes in, is allowing yourself to let go of self-doubt and strive towards greater self-acceptance. This can be achieved through using magickal tools, through self reflection and personal guidance. All of which can work with you spiritually in order to propel your personal growth. It all starts with deciding to become a more spiritual person.

Using tarot and divination as tools for self-reflection and guidance

Tarot and divination have long been used as spiritual tools, these double up as magickal practises for self-reflection and guidance as well. Tarot and divination can provide insights into our current circumstances, offer guidance on decision-making, and help us gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and our desires.

Tarot cards, in particular, are a powerful tool for self-reflection. Each card in the deck carries its own unique energy and symbolism, offering different perspectives and insights. By working with the tarot, we can tap into our intuition and receive guidance from our higher selves or the divine.

To use tarot for self-reflection, start by asking a specific question based on your personal growth. Shuffle the cards and draw a few cards that resonate with your question.Take some time to study the imagery and symbolism on the cards. Notice any thoughts, feelings, or intuitive insights that arise as you explore the cards. The messages and guidance you receive from the tarot can help you gain clarity, make decisions, and navigate through life’s challenges.

Divination practises, such as scrying or pendulum work, can also be used for self-reflection and guidance. These practices involve tapping into your intuition and receiving answers or insights from the universe. Experiment with different divination methods and find the one that resonates with you.

Using visualisation as a spiritual tool

Visualisation is a powerful technique for tapping into your spirituality. For example, by vividly imagining yourself living a desired reality, you send a clear message to the universe about what you want to achieve. Visualisation helps to align your energy with your desires and work through any resistance to change, including fear of success.

To practice visualisation, find a quiet and comfortable space where you will not be disturbed. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths to centre yourself. Begin to notice if any images appear in your mind’s eye. You can also add some magickal practise by visualising any desired outcomes as if they have already manifested. See yourself living your dream life, feeling the emotions associated with your desires, and engaging in activities that align with your goals. Allow yourself to fully immerse in the experience and feel the joy and fulfilment of living your dreams.

Using spirituality to propel your personal growth

Becoming a more spiritual person is a powerful step forward towards embracing personal growth and transformation. Working with magickal tools such as tarot you can unlock your true potential and create the life of your dreams in a creative and fun way. Remember, magick is not a quick fix or a shortcut; it requires dedication, belief, and consistent practise. But with commitment and perseverance, you can step out of the ordinary and into the extraordinary. Embrace the power of magick in your journey towards becoming a more spiritual person and watch as your personal growth soars to new heights.
