Guided Meditation: A Walk Along an English Canal

Stress management can come from either problem-focused coping (directly engaging with or removing the source of the stress) or emotion-focused coping (directly engaging with or removing the emotions produced by the source of the stress). Listening to guided imagery is a useful tool to aid relaxation in emotion-focused coping. By imagining an immersive scene, we can allow ourselves a simple form of distraction. This will put some distance between the source of stress and the emotional reaction, which in turn can lead to problem-focused coping.

This is a guided meditation journey along an English Canal. Join us as we walk the bridle path past villages and locks, and take in the beautiful English countryside.

Meditation practice, and this technique, can produce unwanted effects in people who might be more sensitive. We encourage anyone who is unsure about practising this technique to seek appropriate professional support before experimenting with this.
