Cyclical and repetitive thoughts, such as replaying a difficult conversation in order to pull it apart, can build to become obsessive and negative thinking due to fixating on past, often unpleasant, memories. In order to prevent these spiralling thoughts, it’s helpful to bring attention to moments that went well in the situation or what was learned from the situation.
