Breaking habits that are bad for us can be difficult. This may be because on some level, the habit gives us some reward (beyond the immediate pleasure sensations)  that we are not ready to let go of. A smoking habit may have formed to keep us sociable, a nail biting habit may have formed to ease stress symptoms. We may need to negotiate with our habit before it can leave us, into finding a healthier alternative.

Here we have some pointers on how to meditate.

Meditation practice can produce unwanted effects in people who might be more sensitive. We encourage anyone who is unsure about practising meditative techniques to seek appropriate professional support before experimenting with meditation.
