Rituals for self-care
There has been a lot of research and debate over how rituals work and it frustrates the scientific community that there is a lack of causal explanation for their efficacy. As spiritually minded people, it is more likely that rituals work for you because you believe they will work.
It’s the same for us, when we use positive intentions, and our own sense of belief, we can future-pace to the time and place when our outcomes have been realised. It’s just more fun to involve rituals.
Create an effective ritual for self-care
Always begin with intention setting to direct your energy toward desired outcomes. In this case, focus on your self-care outcomes. This might be an improvement in work/life balance, it might be a change in your daily routine. What will self care bring into your life?
Focus on what life will be like for you when the change has already happened. For an extra magickal boost, you want to start your ritual at a particular part of the moon’s cycle. Just ensure you choose a time that will work best for your intentions.
Ritual for Self Care
Ingredients:
– An apple
– A yellow candle
– A shallow bowl or plate with sugar
– A knife
Ritual to Perform:
1. As you start the ritual, really focus your thoughts on what self care will bring to you. Bring these thoughts, memories and emotions into your mind and as you are doing so, light the candle and allow your eyes to focus softly on the flame.
2. Hold the apple on its side, and slice the apple in half along the middle. So we’re not cutting from the top stem to the bottom calyx.
3. Continue to hold in your mind, all the things that self care will bring into your life.
4. Dip the two halves of apple in the sugar on the plate, and bring the sugary halves back together again.
5. Now you’re going to bury the apple, and as you do so continue to hold in your mind what self care will bring into your life.
By carrying out this ritual, you can allow your unconscious mind to set about bringing you all those things into your life. Just pay attention to any opportunities over the next few days and weeks to realise your outcomes.
