A Herbal Remedy For Stress Relief
Firstly, let us point out that we are not herbal practitioners so please use this recipe with all the usual cautions and caveats, and as explained above please consult with your own doctor before trying it.
In this recipe, we will be combining three powerful herbs – St John’s Wort, Mugwort, and Chamomile. St John’s Wort is known for its antidepressant properties, Mugwort is believed to reduce anxiety and promote relaxation, and Chamomile is known for its calming effects on the mind and body. Together, these herbs can help alleviate stress, promote better sleep, and improve overall mood and wellbeing.
Please note, Mugwort can produce allergic symptoms in people who are also allergic to certain root vegetables and bulbs.
Ingredients:
– 1 teaspoon of dried St John’s Wort
– 1 teaspoon of dried Mugwort
– 1 teaspoon of dried Chamomile flowers
– 3 cups of water
– Organza bag or tea strainer
Method:
1. Start by preparing your mixing bowl. Make sure it is clean and dry
2. Measure out 1 teaspoon of each herb, for each day you want to drink the tea and add them to the mixing bowl.
3. Gently mix the herbs together using a spoon, making sure they are evenly combined.
4. Now, bring 3 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan.
5. Take your organza bag and fill it with the mixed herbs. You should allow no more than 3 teaspoons of the mixture per cup of tea. Storing any extra for another day. You can also use a tea strainer along with a teapot if you do not have an organza bag.
6. Once the water is boiling, remove it from heat and let it cool for a minute.
7. Place the bag of herbs in a teapot or a large mug.
8. Pour the hot water over the herbs and let it steep for 5-7 minutes. The longer you steep the tea, the stronger it will be. We like to leave the bag in the cup the whole time!
9. After 5-7 minutes, remove the bag of herbs or strain the tea.
10. You can add a touch of honey or lemon juice for additional flavor, but it is not necessary.
11. Your stress relief herbal tea is now ready to be enjoyed. You can drink it hot or let it cool down and have it as an iced tea.
It is recommended to consume this herbal tea once a day, preferably in the evening before bed. You can continue this routine for a month to experience its full benefits. Just adjust the amounts accordingly and store the tea in a clean jar out of direct sunlight.
