Negative thoughts are conscious or subconscious thoughts that occur in response to everyday events. So they can be trigged in us by an event or in anticpation of an event (or because we don’t want to do something!).
They are negative, they pop up in our heads uninvited. We tend to construct them so that we end up feeling bad about ourselves, which then becomes self-sabotaging. They are believable because we can become stuck in this pattern of thinking, which is generally a result of a distorted perception of reality.
This is a guided meditation to challenge negative thoughts by looking at them from a distance and reviewing the substance behind those thoughts.
Here we have some pointers on how to meditate, plus some of our other guided meditations available.
Meditation practice can produce unwanted effects in people who might be more sensitive. We encourage anyone who is unsure about practising meditative techniques to seek appropriate professional support before experimenting with meditation.
